The Arun Jaitley Stadium observed an exciting feeling as thousands of fans gathered to watch Indian Cricket Virat Kohli play for the Delhi in the Ranjhi Trophy after 12 years. The Delhi & District cricket association(DDCA) had given the permission of free public entry to witness the game only there Aadhar card required for the entry. But, this massive turnout led to crowd management challenges, forcing authorities to take additional measures.
As Kholi playing against Railways in the last round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, fans started arriving as early as possible to secure their seat. Due to the huge interest of the public, Jio Cinema, which was not actually Broadcasting the match, made the last minute arrangements in their schedule for the live telecast of the match. However, security was a major concern. The DDCA secretary said, that the extra police force had been requested to ensure safety, as the eagerness adjoining Kholi’s return was far beyond a regular Ranjhi Trophy match.
Regardless of the grand ambience, The DDCA stated that there were no plans to show tribute to Kholi before the match, confirming that this was not a farewell game. The excitement among fans, however, made it clear that Kholi’s presence in domestic cricket remains a major attraction, making this Ranjhi Trophy game into a historic event.
