New Delhi: Two buses went missing after the landslide pushed the buses into the river, carrying approximately 65 passengers with at least 6 Indian citizens.
The buses went missing in the Trishuli River at Simaltea area in Chitwan district, along the Narayanghat Mugling road.
The accident occurred at around 3:30 am, as told by the official.
24 people were said to be onboard the Kathmandu-bound Angel bus, while 41 other passengers were travelling on Ganpati Deluxe, going to Gaur from the Nepal capital. Three passengers reportedly escaped from the Ganpati Deluxe by jumping out of the vehicle.
“We are not sure of the total number because the buses could have picked up others on the road” Chitwan district official Khimananda Bhusal informed AFP.
Various rescue and research personas were combing the site for survivors of the accident said the official. Reportedly, landslides and floods have killed more than 90 people in Nepal since mid-June
Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prime Minister of Nepal expressed his grief over the accident and issued personnels for immediate search and rescue operations.
