According to the India Meteorological Department, the Remal cyclone is forecasted to make a significant impact on its landfall between Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts today around midnight, May 26.
The cyclone is expected to bring very heavy rain and winds to multiple regions including the city of Kolkata, West Bengal, Coastal Bangladesh, Tripura and some parts of the northeastern states.
The MET department has issued an emergency warning for severe rainfall, in five districts of Odisha: Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Jagatsinghpur.
Rainfall of 7 to 11 cm and wind speed around 60 to 70 kmph is expected.
A warning has been in effect for the next two days until May 28 but may extend according to the situation and need.
