Sunday On August 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the cornerstone for the renovation of 508 railway stations around the nation. More than 24470 crores would be spent on the redevelopment.
The selected 508 stations are dispersed among 27 states and union territories, with 55 stations in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, 21 in Gujarat and Telangana, 20 in Jharkhand, 18 in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, 15 in Haryana, and 13 in Karnataka, among others.
According the prime Minister, a total of 55 Amrit Stations will be built in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan for a cost of 4,000 crores, as well as 34 stations in Madhya Pradesh for 1,000 crores, 44 stations in Maharashtra for 1,500 crores, and prime railway stations in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala.
